Club donates tree to Dare County for Earth Day

Club donates tree to Dare County for Earth Day Dorothy Morris (left) and Brooke Culpepper Erickson (right) shovel dirt as Ron Mills of Dare County Building and Grounds steadies a cherry tree donated by the Counter Culture Garden Girls on Tuesday, Earth Day. The club is not the traditional garden club, but a knowledge-sharing, fun loving, dirt digging, socially conscious group of women who not only share the love of gardening, but share time and energy to promote beauty in the community. The club organized in September, 2007 with members ranging in age from 23 to 62. Club members assisting with the planting on the northeast side of the Dare County Justice Center are, from left to right, Millie Ward, Sunny Small, Liz Leavell, Fran Reynolds, April Vaughn and Karen Frey. Unable to attend the tree planting ceremony was Amy Daugherty.  Blooms To Your Door of Powells Point donated the tree to the group for the ceremony.
