Board of Commissioners to sponsor local economic
forum
The Dare Board of Commissioners will sponsor a forum for the elected
officials of the six towns, industry representatives, and County
officials to discuss what can be done to stimulate the economy of Dare
County. The forum will be held Monday, October 27 beginning at 1 p.m. at
the Ramada Inn in Kill Devils Hills. The public is invited to attend.
According to Commission Chairman Warren Judge, ``My fellow Commissioners
and I conducted a workshop earlier this year to discuss a range of
economic topics and concluded that we have a desire and a responsibility
to try and make a difference for our people in Dare County. We
accomplished much but realize we need to take that momentum to the next
level.’’
Judge has sent letters inviting the Town Commissioners and industry
leaders to participate in an effort to bring a better understanding of
the differences in the geographical, economic and social areas of the
County to help the group arrive at recommendations to benefit the entire
region.
The October 27 forum will discuss such topics as the building industry,
commercial fishing industry, diversification of Dare’s economy,
technology and more.
