Next Lunch and Learn Session Topic Colorectal, Liver, and Pancreatic Cancers
The Lunch and Learn sessions are a feature of the Cancer Care Initiative partnership between UNC and Dare County that brings a cancer specialist to this area every other Friday to present latest research and to see patients. The next visit will bring Dr. Bert O’Neill on Friday, October 17 who will speak about colorectal, liver and pancreatic cancer. Anyone wishing to attend the noon to 1 p.m. Lunch and Learn on that day should contact Dare County Public Relations Coordinator Dorothy Toolan at 475-5903. Anyone wishing an appointment with Dr. O’Neill should contact the UNC Nurse Navigators Lynn Mills or Nancy Easterday at 449-8265. The Lunch and Learn session on skin cancer is not being broadcast on Government Access MAGIC 20 due to technical difficulties with the broadcast. The previous session on Breast Cancer will continue to air until after the next session on colorectal, liver and pancreatic cancer. |
Dr.
Fran Collichio, Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of
North Carolina School of Medicine, presented the latest findings on the
prevention and treatment of skin cancer during the Friday, October 3,
Lunch and Learn session held at the Cancer Resource Center in Nags Head. Dr. Collichio, a member of UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center's
melanoma, neuro-oncology and breast clinical programs, serves on a
national committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology that
writes the training test for doctors who are seeking advanced training
in oncology.
