TIM WHITE TO SERVE AS COUNTY’S PUBLIC SERVICES DIRECTOR

Tim White has been selected to serve as Dare County Public Services Director replacing Cliff Ogburn who left county administration in April to take the position of Assistant Town Manager of Nags Head.

As Public Services Director, White will supervise the Parks and Recreation, Friends of Youth, Cooperative Extension and Older Adult Services programs for Dare County. He will begin his service with the County on May 27.

``Tim is a good fit for our community. With his background, I am certain he will hit the ground running. He is familiar with our programs, our staff and our community,’’ said Dare County Manager Terry Wheeler in making the announcement. ``He also is committed to our county government’s philosophy of serving our residents to the best of our abilities.’’

White has spent the last 14 years of his career in sporting goods, supplying schools and community leagues. His career in sporting goods began at Kitty Hawk Sports in 1993 as a manager after having worked for 14 years as an administrator for North Carolina Power.

Throughout his career, White has proven himself an excellent employee who has been able to work effectively with groups and staff while showing a talent for budgeting and supervision.

``I am taking over county programs that are first class and I intend to keep doing what has been done to make them first class,’’ commented White. ``I have volunteered quite a bit of time over the years to these programs so I am well aware of the high esteem our community has for them.’’

White and his wife Marie, a counselor at Manteo High School, have two children, a son and a daughter. They have resided in Manteo since 1978.
