DCTS requires a two-day notice for your scheduled
transportation.
Riders will be notified of the scheduled pick-up
time the day before the scheduled transportation. The rider should
be ready for pick-up 15 minutes before and after the scheduled
pick-up time. The driver will wait five minutes.
Except for dialysis riders, the same rider going
to the same destination at the same time located in Dare County, may
do so for 36 one-way or 18 round-trips per calendar year.
All passengers and rivers will wear seat belts.
All children under the weight of 80 lbs or under the age of 8 must
travel in a child’s seat provided by the rider accompanying the
child.
Drivers are trained in securing the wheelchair
restraints. The passenger and the mobile seating device together
must weigh less than 600 lbs.
No smoking on DCTS vans.
No food or beverages may be consumed on DCTS
vans.
No inappropriate or disruptive/intimidating
behavior and/or language or communications on DCTS vans.
No person who has consumed alcohol or illegal
drugs shall ride a DCTS van. No alcoholic beverages or drugs will be
transported on a DCTS van.
No person may possess a weapon of any type while
riding a DCTS van.
No animals, other than approved services animals,
will be allowed on DCTS vans.
If a rider is transported by a volunteer driver,
the same rules apply, or the owner of the private vehicle may inform
the rider of the rules when boarding their vehicle.
