Candy Bomber at the Dare County Airport

The Candy Bomber Crew will reenact the famous 1948/1949 Candy Drop over Berlin with the orginal Douglas C-54 Spirit of Freedom. The Spirit of Freedom dropped handkerchief parachutes filled with candy to the children during the Berlin Airlift when the city was cut off from receiving supplies. There is no cost for this free family-friendly event. 

On Friday, December 16, the Candy Bomber will arrive in Dare County. 

On Saturday, December 17, the Candy Bomber will take part in the Wright Brother's Memorial flyover at 10:30 a.m. 

On Sunday, December 18, the reenactment of the the candy drop will take place. 

Ages 6 and under at 1:00 p.m. 

Ages 7+ at 1:30 p.m. 

Santa will fly in at 3:00 p.m. and will be in the terminal building to visit with the children.
