Dare County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department is accepting applications for an EMS Billing Program Coordinator. This position performs difficult technical and administrative functions for the medical insurance billing for the EMS Department. This will involve coordinating medical insurance billing and collection services between the EMS Department, other internal County Finance Department personnel, and a contracted medical billing vendor. This position will develop and assist with the implementation and analysis of medical insurance revenue related quality assurance processes, monitoring program impacts, generating fiscal reports and spreadsheets, and overseeing the EMS Department’s Medical Insurance Billing Compliance Plan. Will be responsible for monitoring of accounts receivable, adjustments, write-offs, refunds and other accounting related areas, to include reports developed by the billing vendor; develops and prepares a variety of program and statistical reports. Also provides input to Department personnel and other County staff regarding EMS transport services related to citizen medical insurance billing issues and affecting client service. Graduation from a college or university with a major in accounting or business and experience in medical insurance billing, preferable in a governmental operation; or an equivalent combination of education or experience. 2-3 years’ experience in medical insurance program management (preferred).
