Kristen Weaver, EMT Paramedic, with Emergency Medical Services, is the September 2016 Dare County Employee of the Month. EMS Director Jennie Collins, presented Weaver with the award at the September 6, 2016 Board of Commissioners meeting.
"Kristen is an extremely dedicated employee. She increased her certification from EMT Basic to Paramedic, which requires over 1,000 hours minimum of additional education, training and clinical experience time. She is also very active with Kill Devil Hills Ocean Rescue and provides training for them," said Collins during the presentation.
Weaver was hired in 2012 as an EMT Basic. In July 2012, based on her education and experience, she was reclassified to EMT Intermediate. In October 2015, Weaver completed the necessary requirements to be reclassified as an EMT Paramedic.
"Kristen is a dependable and very professional employee. She is a true asset to Dare County EMS. Kristen has become one to look up to for direction. She always provides excellent patient care and is well respected by all the outside agencies we work with," said Weaver's coworkers during the nomination process.
"Kristen was behind the paint scheme and design for our new Dare MedFlight helicopter and this summer while she was recovering following hand surgery, she single- handedly created the design for our new ambulances," remarked Collins.
