Rainwater Harvesting: Managing Stormwater at Your Home

Post Date:02/13/2017 4:00 p.m.
The North Carolina Coastal Federation and Dare Soil and Water Conservation District are hosting a workshop on Saturday, March 25 from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. that teaches participants about improving local water quality through rainwater harvesting.

The workshop, titled “Rainwater Harvesting: Reducing stormwater at home,” will be held at the federation’s office at 637 Harbor Rd. in the Wanchese Marine Industrial Park.

This free workshop gives participants the opportunity to learn more about water quality, stormwater runoff, water conservation and rainwater harvesting. Workshop participants will briefly learn about nonpoint source pollution and stormwater runoff in their community and how it impacts our water quality.

In addition, participants will see on-site stormwater best management practices in use, and free rain barrels will be given to registrants upon completion of the workshop.

This workshop is funded by the Northeast NC Coastal Research and Environmental Education Fund, a fund of the Currituck-Dare Community Foundation.

Registration is limited to 15 people. Registrants may bring one guest, but the rain barrels will only be given to registrants. Register online at nccoast.org/events or www.darenc.com/departments/soil-and-water. For more information, please contact Ann Daisey, community conservationist, at annd@nccoast.org or 252-473-1607.
