TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO STOLEN FIREARM AND NUMEROUS DRUG VIOLATIONS

SEAVER_DAKOTA_ALLEN030917_09_27_17_AMOn March 1, 2017, Dare County Beach District Deputies conducted a traffic stop on an individual for a headlamp not working.  During that traffic stop is was found that the driver did not have a valid North Carolina Driver’s License and that they were staying at a local motel.  The Deputy, in talking to the individual, determined there were illegal drugs at the motel room.  The Deputies continued the case and went to the motel room and located a stolen firearm and numerous illegal drugs. Nags Head Police Department K-9 assisted.  The individual was arrested and transported to the Dare County Detention Center for processing.  See below for arrest information;

Seaver was charged with the following and was released on a $20,000 secured bond;
Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Felony Possession of Cocaine
Misdemeanor Possession of Schedule IV (Xanax)
Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana
Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
No Operators License 

DRUG SEIZURES AT THE DARE COUNTY DETENTION CENTER 

On March 2, 2017, Dare County Detention Center with the help from Dare County Narcotics Task Force* was able to intercept illegal drugs from making it into the Detention Center.  See below for arrest information;

Smyth was charged with the following and being held in lieu of a $503,000 secured bond;  Smyth was already in custody for other unrelated charges.
Felony Possession of a controlled substance at a Prison or Local Confinement Facility

On March 6, 2017, Dare County Detention Center with the help from the Dare County Narcotics Task Force* was able to locate illegal drugs inside a cell at the Detention Center.  See below for arrest information;

Silva was charged with the following and being held in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.  Silva was already in custody for unrelated charges. Felony Possession of a controlled substance at a Prison or Local Confinement Facility
Both of these cases are still being investigated and others may be charged at a later date.

KITTY HAWK POLICE DEPARTMENT AND DARE COUNTY NARCOTICS TASK FORCE CONDUCTS TRAFFIC STOPS THAT LEADS TO A SEARCH WARRANT

On March 3, 2017, Kitty Hawk Police Department stopped an individual for speeding.  During the traffic stop the individual was found to be in possession of an amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  The individual was arrested at that time and charged with numerous drug offenses.   On March 4, 2017, Dare County Narcotics Task Force* conducted a traffic stop on the same individual for selling illegal drugs.  After the traffic stop the Task Force executed a search warrant at the individual’s residence on Palmer Drive, Kitty Hawk, NC.  See below for arrest information;

Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Dowless was charged on March 4, 2017 with the following and is being held in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond;
Felony Sell/Deliver Heroin
Felony Sell/Deliver Schedule IV (Xanax)
other charges will be sought during Grand Jury

FEMALE ARRESTED AFTER BREAKING AND ENTERING IN SALVO 

On February 24, Hatteras Island Deputies responded to a prior Breaking and Entering around the Third Street area in Salvo, NC.  While the Deputies were taking the report, an investigator saw an individual matching the description of the suspect.  The investigator stop and spoke to the individual and during that conversation found out that the person was in possession of some of the stolen property at that time.  The investigation continued and the suspect was charged with Felony Breaking and Entering and Felonious Larceny.  The individual was arrested for the felony warrants on March 7, 2017.  See below for arrest information;

DEPUTY STOPS VEHICLE FOR SPEEDING FINDS DRIVER IS WANTED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES

On March 8, 2017, Hatteras Island Deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding south bound on Highway 12 in Rodanthe, NC.  During the traffic stop the Deputy was able to determine the driver did not have a license and was wanted out of Charlotte, NC for numerous child sex offenses. The driver was arrested for no operator’s license and the warrants out of Charlotte.  See below for arrest information;
