| The Dare County Department of Public Health is accepting applications for an Information & Communication Specialist. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Media Coordinator and Public Information Officer and to develop comprehensive information in regard to community education and public awareness. Position will provide the interpretation and dissemination of public and patient materials and will coordinate with a variety of media addressing community awareness about Public Health functions, programs and services. This position will provide proper communication to the general public in regard to current and emerging health issues and health hazards as well as providing technical support and consultation to department employees involved in other health education programs and projects. Duties also include coordinating varied outreach and education initiatives with other community agencies and organizations. This position requires expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher and other software used to create newsletters, department and community annual reports and marketing materials. Education and Experience Requirements: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in health education and one year of experience in public health education or a related field; or graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of experience in public health education. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred but not required. Valid NC driver's license, pre-employment drug testing, and background screening required. Full salary range: $32,336-$51,739. |
