This display
features photos, documents and artifacts
about VF-17 and VF-50 two of more than
20 squadrons that had special training
at NAAS Manteo. VF-17 was the most
famous navy squadron of WWII with 154
victories in 76 days. VF-50, a squadron
of F6F Hellcats was also among the top
squadrons of WWII. Bruce Barackman, an
Ace with 6 victories flew with VF-50. We
have many of Captain Barackman's
artifacts on display.
