Parks and Recreation programs are an integral part of life in Dare County
and throughout the nation. They build healthy, active communities that
aid in the prevention of chronic disease, provide therapeutic recreation
services for those who are mentally or physically disabled, and also
improve the mental and emotional health of all citizens.
July is National Parks and Recreation month and Dare County is celebrating this year's "Get Wild" theme by offering a variety of family friendly activities! Get wild with your workouts this month and join us in one of our many programs and activities for all ages. Throughout the entire month of July, Parks and Recreation is hosting a Sand Sculpture Contest for families. Head to the beach and build your sand sculpture, take your picture with it and send the photo along with a completed registration form to your local Recreation office by Monday, July 30. Registration forms are available at all Parks and Recreation offices or online. Winners will be announced at the Get Wild final celebration on Tuesday, July 31 at Family Recreation Park in Kill Devil Hills from 5 PM to 9 PM
Get even wilder at one of our Get Wild events.
