The premarital physical is no longer required.

Both bride and groom must present identification. Please review the Identification requirements which may vary per age.

The license is good immediately upon issuance and is valid for 60 days. You can get your license in any county in the state of North Carolina and get married anywhere in the state of North Carolina, but it is very important to return the marriage license to the issuing county within 10 days after the marriage ceremony.

The fee for the marriage license is $60.00. We accept cash, checks, or money orders, made payable to the Dare County Register of Deeds.

The Register of Deeds Office is open from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM but we ask that marriage applicants be in the office no later than 4:30 PM, if possible.

If you need a certified copy of your marriage license, you may acquire it at our office in person or you may request it by mail at: PO Box 70, Manteo North Carolina 27954.

The fee is $10.00. A self-addressed stamped envelope is appreciated.
