Older Adult Services

Dare County seniors wishing to participate in this year’s Senior Games events may contact Brandi Rheubottm at the Baum Center in Kill Devil Hills at (252) 475-5635 or brandiwh@darenc.com. There is a a registration fee of $8 prior to February 19 after which the fee becomes $14. In addition, entrants must provide their own equipment for certain events such as bicycling, golf, tennis and Silver Arts. Click here for a registration form.


Older Adult Services is to enhance the lives of the older adults in Dare County and their families. Older Adult Services offers a variety of programs including volunteer opportunities, Outer Banks Senior Games, home-delivered meals, assistance completing tax returns, health screenings, recreational programs, transportation services (with advance notice) and arts and crafts classes.

Older Adult Services Advisory Council - This Advisory Council meets to review and advise Dare County Older Adult Services.

The Baum Center in Kill Devil Hills, the Fessenden Center in Buxton, and The Dare County Center are the three facilities that coordinate the activities.

Hours of operation: 8:30-5:00 M-F

Nutrition Program: Currently the nutrition program is located at the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church but will be moving to the Dare County Center in mid-October.  The nutrition program’s purpose is to promote, maintain, and improve the health and well-being of older adults through the provision of a nutritionally balanced meal five days per week served in a congregate setting or delivered to the home.
