The Commission is comprised of members who are elected officials from the County and municipalities in the County. The following are members of the Commission:
The Shoreline Management Commission meets on a quarterly basis. Earlier this year the commission proposed a sand fencing and dune grass planting project to the Dare County Board of Commissioners. The BOC approved the project and funded it with interest on the funds collected from the one percent tax for shoreline management. Sand fence installation is currently in progress in Duck, Southern Shores, Rodanthe and Buxton. Dune grass planting will begin in January. For additional details please visit the Shoreline Management site. The commission welcomes public input. A calendar of scheduled meetings can also be found on the Shoreline Management site.
