SITE EVALUATION |
A site evaluation is an
onsite visit by an Environmental Health Specialist. It is
used to make recommendations for planning the placement
of an onsite wastewater system. Some factors included in
making these recommendations are:
- topography and landscape
position
- soil characteristics
(morphology)
- soil wetness
- soil depth
- restrictive horizons and
available space
The sewage flow rates for
dwellings is 120 gallons per day per bedroom. The minimum
volume for sewage from each dwelling is 240 gallons per
day and each additional bedroom above two bedrooms shall
increase the volume of sewage by 120 gallons per day. Any
room which can reasonably be expected to function as a
bedroom shall be considered a bedroom for the design
purposes. When the occupancy for a dwelling exceeds two
persons per bedroom, the volume of sewage shall be
determined by the maximum occupancy at a rate of 60
gallons per day. (The minimum design flow for any
establishment is 100 gallons per day)
Location of Sanitary Sewage
Systems must be:
- 100ft from any private
water supply source, including any well or
spring, and any public water supply..
- 50ft from coastal water
high mark, stream, canal, marsh, or other surface
water.
- 50ft from any permanent
storm water retention pond pool elevation, lake
or pond normal pool elevation.
- 5ft from any building
foundation.
- 15ft from any basement.
- 10ft from any property line
- 10ft from any water line.
