The Dare County Planning Department is
responsible for land-use planning and building and fire inspections in the
unincorporated portions of Dare County. These portions include: Colington,
Hatteras Island, Martin's Point and the Mainland portions of Dare County, and
the areas of Roanoke Island outside the Manteo town limits.
Our scope of services covers the administration
of subdivision and zoning ordinances, enforcement of the NC State Building
codes, flood-plain administration, and the duties of the Office of the Dare
County Fire Marshal.
Dare County is making it
easier for residents and non-residents to make payments to
its departments. Payments by Visa, MasterCard and debit
cards are now being accepted by all locations of the
Planning Department.
The Planning Department, located at 2601 N. Croatan Highway
in Kill Devil Hills, will also accept credit card payments
for animal shelter fees.
