IMPORTANT VACATION INFORMATION

N.C. HIGHWAY LAWS

DON’T

  • Pass on the right shoulder of highway.
  • Drive while intoxicated or impaired.
  • Transport open wine or liquor.
  • Follow traffic too closely.
  • Exceed the posted speed limit.
  • Allow children in open truck beds without adult supervision.

N.C. SEAT BELT LAWS

  • Secure children under 4 in child car seats.
  • Buckle Up all children 4 to 12.
  • Buckle Up all front seat passengers.
N.C. LAW
  • Must be 21 to consume beer, wine or liquor.
  • Must not drive if blood alcohol is .08 or more.
  • Driver cannot consume alcohol while driving.

VISITOR SAFETY TIPS

  • Always lock your condo or cottage. When away, lock ground level and porch windows.
  • Always lock your car—even at your cottage or condo. Place valuables out of sight. Lock valuables in the trunk or cover with a towel or jacket.
  • Don’t leave a wallet, camera, radio or other valuables on the beach unattended.
  • Don’t leave fishing rods or tackle under a cottage or in a vehicle.
  • Don’t leave surfboards, skateboards, windsurfers, etc. on your vehicle or unsecured under or around your cottage.
  • Secure all bikes with lock and chain or put them in your condo or cottage.
  • Don’t leave bathing suits or wetsuits outside at night or when no one is home.
  • Know your cottage address. Make sure your kids know the address. Lifeguards can help lost kids.
  • At night, don’t walk the beach or uninhabited areas alone. Take note of your location (landmark, street number, town, etc.) before starting your walk.
