Free Mammogram Screenings


Free Mammogram screenings are available all year long at the Outer Banks Hospital. Most women over the age of 40 are choosing to get screened for breast cancer. However, for some, having minimal or no health care insurance for a screening mammogram is a barrier. If lack of health insurance kept you or your loved one from this life saving test, wait no more! Call your doctor today to receive a referral for a FREE Mammogram through the Outer Banks Hospital development Council's Breast Health Program.

You are eligible to receive a FREE Mammogram if you meet the following criteria. You are a Dare County resident, you reside in Currituck or Hyde County and are employed in Dare County, you are uninsured or your insurance does not cover a mammogram, you are 40-64 years of age with or without symptoms, you are 39 years of age or younger with symptoms.

No Doctor - No Problem! Please call the Outer Banks Hospital at 252- 449- 5918 to make an appointment to see a health care provider. Patients may be eligible to receive one free screening mammogram per calendar year, all year long through this program.

Dcc Movie Showings


The Dare County Center in Manteo will show " 42 Jackie Robinson Story" on Monday, July 21st at 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday, July 30th at 12:30 p.m. Hero is a word we hear often in sports, but heroism is not always about achievements on the field of play. "42" tells the story of two men-the great Jackie Robinson and legendary Brooklyn Dodgers General Manager Branch Rickey-whose brave stand against prejudice forever changed the world by changing the game of baseball. This movie has a run time of 2 hours and 8 minutes. Free popcorn and drink provided.

Pop-in Wednesday
