Outer Banks Charity Classic Tennis Tournament
The tournament will consist of men's and women's doubles (7.0+ and 7.0-) with all participants playing at least three matches. The event is designed to promote tennis for all ages and raise awareness of, and provide support for Dare Hospice- so that end of life services and support are available to individuals and their families, regardless of ability to pay.
Thursday, Oct. 2
12 PM - 5 PM - reserved for matches at Duck Woods & WestSide as necessary* (this is dependent on the number of players that register)
Friday, Oct. 3
8 AM - 5 PM - match Play at Duck Woods and WestSide Athletic Club*
6 PM - Cookout, live music with Rick Ostlund and Friends, live auction and cash bar at Duck Woods Country Club.
Saturday, Oct. 4
7:30 AM - 11 AM - continental breakfast at Duck Woods and WestSide Athletic Club
8 AM - 5 PM - match play at Duck Woods and WestSide Athletic Club*
Sunday, Oct. 5
9 AM - 3:30 PM - semi-finals and finals all divisions (C Brackets) at WestSide Athletic Club*
*If it rains, matches will be played at Pine Island Racquet & Fitness Club and Corolla Light Resort.

Flu Shot Clinic At the Baum Center
The Public Health Division of Dare County Department of Health and Human Services (DCDHHS) recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against the influenza virus. Everyone 6 months of age and older should be vaccinated against the flu.

Free shots are provided for ALL CHILDREN ages 6 months to 18 years who have Medicaid, do not have insurance or their insurance does not cover vaccinations. Insurance claims will be filed for children who are insured by Blue Cross Blue Shield or Health Choice.
Insurance claims will also be filed for adults with Blue Cross Blue Shield or Medicare. Otherwise, the cost of the flu shot for adults and children is $35.00.
Flu shots are also available by appointment at the Health Department clinic locations in Manteo (475-5003) and Frisco (475-9320).

Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention week is October 5-11, 2014. The Dare County Fire Marshal's Office would like to remind you that "Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month!" During this year's Fire Prevention Week safety campaign, firefighters and safety advocates will be spreading the word about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home and testing them monthly.
Fire Prevention Week was established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire, the tragic 1871 conflagration that killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures and burned more than 2,000 acres. Reference#758

Flu, Shingles, and Pneumonia Vaccine Clinic
On Wednesday, October 8th from 9:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. Rite Aid pharmacy will be sponsoring a Flu, Shingles, and Pneumonia Vaccine clinic at the Dare County Center in Manteo. Please bring your Insurance card with you to the clinic. Flu shots are covered by all major insurance. Shingles vaccine is covered by some insurances with the following guidelines: BCBS FREE to 50 & older, Medicaid FREE to 60 and older, Tricare FREE to 60 and older. Medicare Prescription Drug Plan needs to call Rite Aid at 252-441-7111, ask the pharmacy if you have a co-pay. Approintments are needed for shingles vaccine only.
