Dcc Movie Day

On Wednesday, June 29th at 12:00 p.m. the Dare County Center in Manteo will show the movie "The Finest Hours" Rated PG-13 with a run time of 1 Hour and 57 minutes A heroic action-thriller and remarkable true story of the greatest small boat rescue in Coast Guard history. On February 18, 1952, a massive nor'easter strikes New England, wreaking havoc on the ships caught in its deadly path. The SS Pendleton, an oil tanker bound for Boston, is ripped in half, trapping more than 30 sailors inside its rapidly-sinking stern. Orders are made by the US Coast Guard for a dar- ing operation to rescue the stranded men. Despite overwhelming odds, four men, led by Coast Guard Captain Bernie Webber, set out in a wooden lifeboat with an ill-equipped engine and little, if any, means of navigation, facing frigid temperatures, 60-foot high waves and hurricane-force winds. One popcorn and drink will be provided FREE for all movie watchers.

Sponsored by the Dare County Center at 950 Marshall C Collins Dr, Manteo NC 27954. For more information call 252.475.9270
