F.C. Minton Tournament Raises Almost $3,000 for Scholarships
Sixteen teams from across North Carolina competed in the 3rd Annual F.C. Minton Memorial Tournament held July 6-8 at the Youth Center in Kill Devil Hills. The tournament raised almost $3,000 for Parks and Recreation scholarships for children in need of financial assistance to participate in recreational activities and programs. Players ranged in skill level from amateur to skilled college to semiprofessional.
The 1st place team was Music by Tommy from Manteo, NC(pictured below). The 2nd place team was EC Redeem Team from Elizabeth City. The 3rd place team was Boston Bail Bonding from Little Washington.
"The F.C. Minton Memorial Tournament is more and more successful every year," said Deshawn Banks, Leisure Services Coordinator with Dare County Parks and Recreation. "This tournament raises much needed funding for Dare County so all children, regardless of financial restraints, have the opportunity to participate in our programs."
Dare County Parks and Recreation would like to give a special thanks to sponsors who made the event possible.
