Water Department Technician Receives Employee of the Month Award
Vince Mercer, Instrument Technician with the Dare County Water Department, is the July 2012 Dare County Employee of the Month. Ken Flatt, Utilities Director, presented Mercer with the award at the July 16, 2012 Board of Commissioners meeting.
As Instrument Technician, Mercer is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the Water Department's process control and instrumentation for various Water Treatment facilities throughout the county. Mercer can be called into work at any hour of the day to make emergencies repairs to keep the water plants operational.
Mercer worked diligently throughout this past winter at the Skyco water plant to make changes to the infrastructure as the Water Department began the Roanoke Island Water System Expansion Project. As construction began for the expansion project and new pipes were added to the Skyco plant, Mercer dealt with the everyday problems and changes the current production process encountered. "Despite his workload increasing every day, Vince kept his cool and did everything he had to, to get the job done right," Flatt commented during the presentation.
"Now that it is summertime and water demand is at its highest, Vince responds to production breakdowns and malfunctions, 24 hours a day, seven days a week," said Flatt. "Vince takes care of business and is a valuable asset to the Water Department."
Congratulations to Vince Mercer for being named July 2012 Dare County Employee of the Month.
