Download and DBF Format Instructions

To Download a file (Follow steps 2a thru 2g)

Select and click on the first file you want to download…ex:

The following dialogue box will pop up…click Yes

The following dialogue box will pop up…click Run

d. The following dialogue box will pop up…click Run

e. The following dialogue box will pop up…click Unzip

f. The following dialogue box will pop up…click OK

g. …click Close

e. Open your folder and will you see the tax files you downloaded in dbf format.

f. Import files into a database or spreadsheet program. For instructions for importing in to Access see below. To use in a spreadsheet program, open the spreadsheet program. Click on File, then open the dbf file from the DCTaxes folder .

For instructions for importing into Access

Open Access.
Click on File, New Database…..give database a name such as (DC_Taxes).
For Access 2.0 - Click on File, Import (Data source)
For Access97 - click on File, Get External Data, select dBASE IV as file type, and click OK.
For Access 2000 click on File, Get External Data, select dBASE IV as file type, and click OK.
Double click on (C:) to find the DCTaxes folder, and double click on the DCTaxes folder.
Click on the file to highlight, and click on Import.
A table for the district should appear in your opened database window.
You may rename the table by highlighting the table, right clicking, click
on Rename…, then give it a name such as the district name of Avon, Buxton, etc.

For instructions for importing into Excel

Open Excel.
Click on File, Open
Double click on (C:) to find the DCTaxes folder, and double click on the DCTaxes folder.
Change file type to All Files click on the first dbf file to highlight, and click on Open.
Use the scroll bar at the bottom of the page and you will see all the tax files.
