maps listed below are currently available,
and are provided for your convenience. All maps may be downloaded and\or
printed. You
will need Acrobat Reader 5.0 or above. The tax map provides a reference to a tract or lot’s designation and location. Determining the tax map you would like to select involves first identifying the “PIN” number used by the Dare County Tax Office for referencing tax parcels to tax maps. The property inquiry program found on the Dare County Website (<http://www.darenc.com/public/gis.htm>) allows one to retrieve tax record information by Owners Name, Tax Parcel #, Street Address, PIN, or by visual point and click from aerial photos. Data from the tax record will be displayed. Included in that data is the PIN number. The first six digits of the PIN number represent the tax map number on which that particular tax parcel can be found. In some instances, a tract or lot may cross over onto another map. The index located in the bottom right corner of the tax map indicates the map you are viewing (center square) surrounded by the adjacent map numbers (outer squares). These maps are for preliminary review purposes. The effective date for these maps has not been established. The panel number begins at the fifth digit. For example, the file “3720988300P20050429.pdf” is for panel “988300.”
