A burn permit from the Fire Marshal's Office is required before starting any fire in unincorporated areas of Dare County.
Permits must be requested in advance. Contact the Fire Marshal's Office, or submit an on-line request through the North Carolina Division of Forest Resources.
Make sure you choose Dare from the dropdown box and click Go! to submit.
The issuance of a burn permit does NOT relieve the permittee of responsibility for complying with all air pollution laws, regulations and ordinances, or damage caused to others. Good judgment and extreme caution should always be used.
Towns within the County have their own restrictions and requirements. See "County Fire Districts & Municipalities" for contact numbers.
