- A citizen of the United States; and
- 18 years of age or older by the election; and
- A legal resident of Dare County for 30 days by the date of the next election
If you are 17 years old and will be 18 by or on General Election Day, you may register to vote no earlier than 60 days nor later than 25 days before the Primary, 17 year olds who will be 18 by or on General Election Day may register to vote until 25 days before election day.
You can register or change your address, name or party by submitting a mail-in registration form, which is available at the following locations:

You must update your registration if you:
- have moved to another address within Dare County since you registered to vote; or
- have changed your name; or
- wish to change your party affiliation
