Local Citizens Receive Governor's Award for Volunteer Service
The 2016 Governor's Volunteer Service Awards were presented to local citizens at the July 18 Board of Commissioners meeting in Manteo. Awards were presented to Hatteras Island recipients at the May 20 Board of Commissioners meeting in Buxton.

The Governor's Volunteer Service Awards honors people who have shown concern and compassion for their neighbors by making a significant contribution to their community through volunteer service. The award was created in the Office of the Governor in 1979.
