Citizen Input Requested for Future COA Development

As College of The Albemarle plans for future development of the Dare County campus, the Dare County Board of Commissioners is providing time on their October 16 meeting agenda for citizens to share their thoughts about future facility and program needs.
With approximately $1.5 million allocated to the COA – Dare Campus from last year’s “Connect NC” state bond referendum and another $7.5 million included in the County’s most recent Capital Improvements Plan (CIP), the next step in the process is to hire an architect to begin the design process. The proposed curriculum will be critical in determining the design.
“Community members, particularly employers, are encouraged to take this opportunity to provide input and help shape the curriculum and needs for our local campus,” said Chairman Bob Woodard. “It is important for COA to know what our employers needs are so the campus can be planned to allow students to get the necessary skills.”
This Public Forum will be held at 5:30 p.m., Monday, October 16, 2017 in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room at the Dare County Administration Building, 954 Marshall Collins Drive in Manteo. A separate forum will be scheduled for Hatteras Island.
Representatives from COA's Leadership Team will attend the Board of Commissioners meeting to receive public input on this issue.
