Dare County Advanced EMT Named Employee of the Month
Denise Pearce, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician with the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department, is the January 2018 Dare County Employee of the Month. EMS Chief Jennie Collins presented Pearce with the award at the January 8, 2018 Board of Commissioners meeting.
Pearce has worked with Dare County EMS for almost 17 years after being hired as an EMT Basic in 2001 and later being promoted to Advanced EMT. During the award presentation, Chief Collins remarked, “In addition to her normal job responsibilities that are quite tremendous, Denise is always that go-to person willing to help her colleagues. She will take on any task and is always asking if she can do anything to help us. If our department needs a form or checklist, Denise is the one who hits the computer and puts it together. She has spent countless hours developing, testing and improving the vast majority of the daily checklists and various other forms our department uses every day. These forms are used in tracking and ordering DCEMS station consumables and the general resupply process.”
During the nomination process, Denise was praised by her coworkers for many other attributes, including being actively involved with the orientation of new employees. Her years of experience have given her a solid foundation to educate and train new staff. She is a valuable resource for new employees because of her personality and willingness to share knowledge.
“If Denise sees something that needs to be done, she completes the task without being asked. She is quick to help solve problems and becomes part of the solution. Her input is highly valued amongst supervisors. And her compassion for her peers and her patients make her an exemplary role model amongst our team,” wrote her supervisor.
