The mission of Dare County EMS is to provide high quality, innovative and cost-effective prehospital emergency medical care and transportation for Dare County residents and visitors. 

A caring and compassionate staff of highly trained EMS professionals provides services supported by the resources and leadership of the Dare County Board of Commissioners. Dare County EMS continually strives to be a leader in EMS and aeromedical transport throughout the region, state, and nation.

Emergency Medical Services in Dare County are provided at the Advanced Life Support (ALS) level of care. All personnel hold credentials issued by the State of North Carolina, which require a high level of continuing education and on-going training. Paramedics also maintain certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).


MedFlight Open House Scheduled for Saturday, March 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dare County EMS will host an Open House at the Dare MedFlight Hangar in Manteo on Saturday, March 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m   The entire family is invited for an up-close look at the County’s medical helicopter and to learn about the County's rapid medical transport service, one of the few county-owned aeromedical operations in the entire nation. 

An ambulance will also be on display so everyone can climb in and take a look. In addition, there will be refreshments and games for the kids.

The hangar is located at 1078 Driftwood Drive in Manteo. Parking is available across the street from the facility.

“We hope everyone will take this opportunity to visit,” said EMS Chief Jennie Collins. “The open house will provide citizens and visitors  an opportunity to come by, meet the crews, see the equipment, and learn about our services.”
