Investigation Leads to Seizure of Trafficking Amount of Heroin

On March 29, 2017, Dare County Narcotics Task Force* finished a month long investigation on an individual for distributing Heroin in Dare County, NC. The Task Force approached the individual when they pulled into the Southern Shores Crossing Shopping Center as they were returning from Portsmouth, Virginia. During the encounter the Task Force, with the assistance of a State Bureau of Investigations Agent and his K-9, found a trafficking amount of Heroin. The individual was placed under arrest and transported to the Dare County Detention Center. A search warrant was done on his residence after the arrest where an amount of US Currency was located and seized. Kitty Hawk Police Department Patrol Division assisted. Hare was charged with the following and was released on a $75,000 secured bond;

Felony Trafficking Heroin by Possession

Felony Trafficking Heroin by Transportation

Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for a Controlled Substance

The case is still under investigation and other charges may be sought at a later date.

*Dare County Narcotics Task Force is made up of the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, Nags Head Police Department, Kill Devil Hills Police Department, Kitty Hawk Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations and North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement.
