Mike Hollowell, Custodian at the Dare County Justice Center in Manteo is the June 2019 Dare County Employee of the Month. Human Resources Director Elizabeth Reilly and Personal Property Appraiser Tracie Porter presented Hollowell with the award at the June 3, 2019 Board of Commissioners meeting.

“Mike’s dedication to his job and the pride he takes in his job performance is refreshing and greatly appreciated. He is able to manage his time effectively even on days when he has taken on additional duties. We greatly appreciate his hard work and positive attitude,” remarked Porter.

Hollowell began working as a custodian at the Dare County Justice Center in February 2005. Prior to his current position, he worked as a Detention Officer with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office from 1992 through 2004. “Mike is extremely well liked at the Justice Center. In fact, he is so admired, he received 11 nominations from his coworkers for the honor of Employee of the Month,” said Reilly during the presentation.

According to a coworker during the nomination process, “Mike takes great pride in his job and is always eager to help every employee. He is friendly and helpful and goes above and beyond.”

“Mike puts his heart and soul into taking care of the Justice Center. He does it all with a smile on his face and a great attitude. When he’s not here, you know it! He works hard at a very thankless job but is very much appreciated,” commented another coworker.
