Post Date:05/03/2017 11:22 a.m.

2017 Volunteers of Year - Roanoke Island Parks and RecreationApril is Volunteer Appreciation Month and every year the Dare County Parks and Recreation Roanoke Island/Mainland Division awards a Youth and Adult Volunteer of the Year.  Thank you to Josie & Trent for all your hard work in 2017. And many thanks to all of our volunteers that make all of our programming throughout the year possible.

Josie Fry (Youth)

Josie a Manteo High School junior, coached a 7-9 Girls basketball team this past winter season.  Being a head coach of a youth team is a big responsibility especially for a High School student and Josie handled all the coaching duties very well.

Trent Jones (Adult)

Coach Trent Jones is a fixture of youth coaching on Roanoke Island.  He started coaching his younger brothers when he was 16 and has coached his three sons multiple times in multiple sports including basketball, soccer and baseball. Coach Jones may have coached more youth rec teams in the past 15 years than anyone on Roanoke Island.
