Monitor Weather Forecasts and Road Conditions as Coastal Storm Brings Impacts to Dare County
NWS Newport/Morehead City has issued a Coastal Flood Warning from 7 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Monday, a High Wind Warning from 7 a.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday, and a High Surf Advisory, from 7 a.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Monday.
Northeast winds 40 to 50 mph with gusts up to 65 mph along with 2 to 4 feet of life-threatening above ground inundation, rough surf, beach erosion and ocean overwash are expected on the oceanside locations from Duck down to Hatteras as well as sound side locations on the southern end of Hatteras Island.
Residents, visitors and business owners should be alert for rising water and should take action now to protect themselves and their property. Travel will become hazardous and conditions may make N.C. Highway 12 impassable in some areas this weekend into Monday
