Since 1870, Dare County Deputies have been doing their part to help make our community on the Outer Banks, Roanoke Island and Mainland of Dare County, a better place to live, work and visit. With a current staff of 147 Deputies and support personnel, The Dare County Sheriff's Office is a full service law enforcement agency working within various Divisions. We also run a great Summer Camp for our youth.

GHSP Safety Event and Felony Arrest

On February 12, 2020, in the evening hours, the Dare County Sheriff's Office conducted a Governor's Highway Safety Program DWI Checkpoint near Pirates Cove. While checking a
driver's license, a B-District Deputy noticed a marijuana pipe in the door pocket of a vehicle. An amount of marijuana was then located on the person operating the vehicle. Quajai Allen Keith,
21/M, 1200 block of Hwy 17S, was arrested for PWISD Marijuana and taken to the Dare County Detention Center where he was released on a $6,000 secured bond. Manteo Police Department
and Nags Head Police Department assisted in the case.
