The National Weather Service (NWS) in Newport/Morehead City, NC will be conducting two community forums in Dare County in July to discuss hurricanes and preparedness. The forums are free and open to everyone; no age requirements. All are welcome!

The NC Forest Service lifted the burn ban previously in effect for Dare County. The ban has been lifted as of 5 p.m. on Monday, June 10.

The NC Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and canceled all burning permits in Dare County until further notice. Cape Hatteras National Seashore has temporarily banned beach fires due to the abnormally dry conditions.
