In partnership with the Albemarle Commission, Dare County is able to offer older adults who are at least 60 years of age with a nutritionally balanced meal five days per week served in a congregate group setting, or delivered to the home.
Dare County Center Nutrition Services
Congregate meals are served at the Dare County Center promptly at 12:00 noon Monday through Friday, except holidays, giving older adults an opportunity for socialization while enjoying a nutritionally balanced meal. If you would like to attend the congregate nutrition program, you must call the Dare County Center at 475.9279 at least 48 hours in advance to order your meal. The Dare County Center also provides home delivered meals to homebound older adults.
Baum Center Nutrition Services
Meals are also provided for homebound older adults on the beach who are at least 60 years of age and unable to prepare meals or participate in a congregate meals program at the Dare County Center.
Volunteers Needed for Home Delivered Meals Program
If you would like to volunteer to deliver meals to homebound clients, please call the Nutrition Site Coordinator at Patricia Gail at 252.475.9279 or fill our a volunteer contact form below and you will be contacted shortly. To volunteer on the beach please call Mary Jernigan at 252-475-5637. You can volunteer one day per month for about an hour, or you can give more time. This is a great way to help those in need and is very rewarding.
