Candidate Filing for the March 2020 Dare County Primary Election
Candidates seeking election may file for office beginning Monday, December 2 at 12:00 p.m.

It is the mission of the Dare County Board of Elections to provide fair, open, honest and professionally managed election services to our community. The Board of Elections has responsibility for safeguarding the will of the people, protecting democracy, and for establishing fairness and equity for all in the process of self-governance.
The right to vote is one of the most fundamental liberties we enjoy as Americans. It is also one of our greatest civic responsibilities. Make freedom count. Please register and vote!
This site has been established to provide you with non-partisan information concerning elections and the political process in Dare County.
VOTER ID IN 2020
Beginning in 2020, North Carolina voters will be asked to provide photo identification when voting in-person or absentee-by-mail, with some exceptions. In early December 2019, the N.C. State Board of Elections began mailing an educational postcard about the new Voter ID law, and a more comprehensive mailer will be sent by early January. FILING FOR OFFICE

Filing for the 2020 General Election contests will begin at noon on Monday, December 2, 2019 and conclude at noon on Friday, December 20, 2019.
Please note, Soil & Water Conservation Office Supervisor filing will be held at noon on Monday, June 8 and conclude at noon on Thursday, July 2, 2020.
