As authorized by North Carolina General Statutes, the county has elected to establish charges for ambulance services. Tax dollars subsidize the portion of the total cost of EMS operations that are not recovered from charges to EMS users.

Due to the constant changing billing regulations Dare County contracts with an outside professional billing agency to provide better services for its clients. Any billing questions can be directed to our billing specialist Angie Slade or to the Dare County EMS Administration office.

Dare County also uses the North Carolina Debt Setoff program where unpaid amounts can be deducted from North Carolina State income tax refunds and lottery winnings.
