Within Dare County, there are currently 50 computers for staff and public use in the 3 libraries, including 23 PC’s with access to the internet and/or our web-based card catalog, plus public-use computers with MS Office programs. Wi-Fi access is also available.

eAudiobooks are also available for your listening pleasure. look for the eAudio bookshelf or headphone icon on the cover.
To get started you will need to download the appropriate application for your device or software from Cloud Library.
To access Cloud Library eBooks, you will need your 14-digit Dare County Library card barcode number, and also the PIN that you use to access your online account for renewals and placing holds through our online catalog. This PIN will act as the password for the Cloud Library. If you need a PIN or have forgotten your PIN, please call or stop by the library.
We've developed an instruction sheet with screen shots and information about the Cloud library's many features. These instructions are for the PC APP, but the Cloud Library will appear and act very similar no matter what device or platform you are using.
Read your favorite popular magazines cover to cover, including the latest and previous "back" issues, on your computer, tablet, or mobile device. There are no holds, waiting, or checkout periods or limit to the number of magazine issues you can have at one time. RBdigital (formerly "Zinio") is available to registered borrowers of the Dare County Library in the library or from work, school, or home.

TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of animated, talking picture books that teach kids in preschool through grade six the joy of reading. TumbleBookLibrary has read-along picture books, early readers, chapter books, graphic novels, classic stories, and non-fiction books, videos, puzzles, and games. TumbleBookLibrary is available to registered borrowers of the Dare County Library in the library or from home. Many of the books will not work with Microsoft Internet Explorer or Edge browsers. Chrome is recommended. You will need to enter your 14-digit library card number to access TumbleBookLibrary.
NC Kids Digital Library has over 5,000 eBooks for preschoolers through Grade 4. Over 1,000 of these can be borrowed by more than one user at the same time. (Look for the "Never-Ending Reading" shelf for these titles.) Access with your 14-digit Dare County Library Card barcode and library-assigned PIN. Select "East Albemarle Regional Library" as your library. Borrow up to 5 eBooks at a time. eBooks go out for 14 days. Learn anything, anytime, anywhere with Universal Class online courses for your professional and personal growth. There are over 500 online non-credit continuing education courses, each 10- to 20-hours long, but because you learn at your own pace, you can take up to six months to complete each course. Learn job and career skills, academic topics, hobbies, language learning, and more. You can even correspond with an instructor via email. Universal Class is available to registered borrowers of the Dare County Library in the library or from work, school, or home.

Cypress Resume is an easy to use and effective tool for resume writing. It is designed for non-writers, so inexperienced applicants can create professional-looking resumes that will stand out in the job market. Cypress Resume is available through NC LIVE. When prompted for the library, select "East Albemarle Regional Library" then enter your 14 digit library card number to access Cypress Resume.

Dare County Times/Coastland Times — The Dare County Digital Heritage collection contains an online digital archive and searchable index covering over 70 years of past issues of the Dare County Times (1935-1945) and The Coastland Times (1951-2009) newspapers that document life on the Outer Banks, North Carolina during this historic period. Funding for this project is from the Outer Banks Community Foundation and the Dare County Library and through an agreement between Times Printing Company, Inc. (publisher of the Dare County Times and The Coastland Times newspapers) and the Dare County Library.
Gregory Williams Outer Banks Genealogy Collection — The Gregory Williams Outer Banks Genealogy Collection contains Outer Banks family names, family group sheets and pedigree charts dating from the mid-1700s to the mid-1990s. This is a small sampling of the complete Collection housed in the Manteo Library. Funding for the online Gregory Williams Outer Banks Genealogy Collection was provided by Dare County Library.
The Sea Chest is an online collection includes 23 issues of Sea Chest magazine (1973-2002), an award winning student magazine from Cape Hatteras School. Sea Chest covers Hatteras Island culture and history through news articles, interviews and photographs of times gone by. This digitization project is made possible through funding from the Dare County Library and through an agreement between Cape Hatteras Secondary School (publisher of the Sea Chest magazine) and the Dare County Library.

NC LIVE is an online collection of regional and national magazines, journals, newspapers, audiobooks, eBooks (including HomeGrown titles from North Carolina publishers), videos, genealogy, test preparation, language learning, health information, literature, information about local and national businesses, and more.
