To place your requests for available materials, call Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or use the Online Catalog at anytime. When they are available, library staff will call you to schedule an appointment so you can pick up your items at the library using our no contact curbside pick up. If you have items to return, the book drop in front of your library is now available to use, as well as book drops in Southern Shores, Nags Head and Rodanthe. Please, no donated items at this time.

The Dare County Library locations are closed to the public until further notice.

As of June 4, 2020, Dare County Library book drops are now available, except for the book drop at the Fessenden Center. Please return your checked out books once you are done with them to the book drop at your library or the remote book drop located in Southern Shores, Nags Head or Rodanthe.

We ask that no one bring or leave “donations” of personal used books at this time.

If you have library materials out, NO OVERDUE FINES will be charged while we are closed. We automatically updated the due date of everything checked out since March 1st with a June 10th book return date. For customers who checked out books before March 1st, we will contact you to remind you of items you still have out.

Following CDC guidance, items that are returned must be handled carefully, since COVID-19 may live on plastic for up to 72 hours. A majority of our books are covered in mylar jackets, as well as plastic DVD and Book on CD cases. Therefore, even if you return an item in a book drop, they may still remain on your library account for several days before they are checked in by library staff.

Again, NO overdue fines will be charged on any items returned during the weeks we are closed. We thank you for your patience and cooperation during this unusual time.

If you have any questions, you can call the library during weekday hours. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you all in person again!
