Monday afternoon update from NCDOT - N.C. 12 from the Marc Basnight Bridge (Oregon Inlet) to Rodanthe is still closed as sections of the Outer Banks road are covered with sand and water due to dune breaches and ocean overwash. Conditions remain poor on N.C. 12 and ocean overwash is continuing to inundate the road with water. N.C. Department of Transportation crews are assessing impacts and continuing to clear the road of sand caused by dune breaches between Rodanthe and Oregon Inlet. Officials are not sure when it will be safe to reopen N.C. 12. The last winds from this weekend’s strong storm are forecast to exit the coast later today.  NCDOT will continue to provide updates on N.C. 12 as new information is available.

3.1 miles beginning in the Coastal Studies Institute (CSI) parking lot in Skyco, NC, continuing through multi-surface trails and residential roads and ending at the Dare County Center (DCC) in Manteo, NC. No strollers, dogs or bicycles on course please. Traffic control. Water station.


7:30-8:45 a.m. Check-in, race day packet pick up and late registration at CSI.
7:30-8:15 a.m. Shuttle from the Dare County Center (parking & finish line) to Coastal Studies Institute (start line), no return trips to CSI after finish. It is
recommended that participants park at the DCC.
9:00 a.m. 5K Race begins, 10:00 a.m. Fun Run begins.

This is a rain or shine event. No refunds under any circumstances. Please refer to our Weather or Distaster Emergency Policy on our wesbite for additional info.

Entry Fees:

$30.00 if received by October 1, 2019. $35.00 from October 2-24, 2019. $40.00 if registering during packet pick up or on race day, October 25 & 26, 2019. $10.00 for Fun Run without shirt, $20.00 for Fun Run with shirt. Shirt availability is not guaranteed unless pre-registered by October 1, 2019. Shirts will be limited for registrations received after October 1, 2019. Shirts may not be available for Race Day registrations. Please pre-register to guarantee a shirt and/or medal. Shirts are long sleeve.


Awards to top three male & female 5K finishers. Best
costume awarded for adults and youth in the following categories: creative, scary & group. Please stay after the race to be eligible for judging. Prizes will be awarded to the above categories via donations of gift cards and/or cash.


5K: Medal, shirt & swag bag to 5K participants.
Fun Run: Medal and swag bag. Shirt option (see race fees for details).
