  • Low Risk is Not No Risk

    Did you know 1 in 4 flood losses occur in low-risk X Zones? Updated flood maps for all of Dare County have been released and feature significant changes. The updated maps are scheduled to be effective on June 19, 2020.

  • Large Item Pick-up

    Dare County Public Works will be conducting a large household pick-up for residential customers only.  The pick-up begins January 28, 2020 at East Lake, Stumpy Point, and Manns Harbor. View the complete schedule here.

  • Senior Games Registration Now Open

    The 32nd Annual Outer Banks Senior Games registration is open to athletes and artists ages 50 and older. The Games will take place April 20 through May 2.

  • Safely Dispose of Prescription Pills

    Dare County has 10 Prescription Drop Off locations for safe disposal of medications. Returning your unwanted medicines to a take-back program is the safest and most environmentally protective way to dispose of unused medication.

  • Dare Guarantee Scholarship

    The Dare County Board of Commissioners are investing in the future by pledging $250,000 for tuition and fees to graduating Dare County seniors who enroll full-time at College of the Albemarle (COA) in associate degree or technical programs. Details on eligible curriculum and programs are still being finalized.
