  • Candy Bomber

    The Candy Bomber Crew will reenact the famous 1948/1949 Candy Drop over Berlin with the original Douglas C-54 Spirit of Freedom at the Dare County Airport on Sunday, December 17. Ages 6 and under at 1:00 p.m. and Ages 7+ at 1:30 p.m. Santa will land at the airport at 2:00 p.m. and be available for photos.  

  • Veterans I.D. Card for Local Discounts

    A number of local business throughout Dare County offer discounts to veterans if they show their Dare County Veteran I.D. card. To determine if you are eligible, contact Veterans Advisory Council Member, Marsha Brown at 252.202.2058

  • Applications for LIEAP Being Accepted

    Households containing an elderly person age 60 and above or a disabled persons receiving services through the Division of Aging and Adult Services are eligible to receive benefits to help pay heating bills.

    Dare County is named in honor of Virginia Dare, the first English child born in America. Dare County is also where the Wright Brothers first experienced powered flight and home to the mystery of the lost colony of Roanoke Island.
